A Wave at a Time

Days like today are absolutely beautiful, even if they are a little more humid. Along the horizon you can see the humidity hanging along the horizon. It kinda has the appearance of a haze or fog if you will. There are certain spots where you can even see the effect along the water. In certain spots the water looks a little grayer almost, and not quite as shiny. But the water is still sparkling and on a day like today, just yesterday you want to dip you toes in the water. So that you can feel the sand between your toes, and the water give you goose bumps. That always happens the first time you go in the ocean for the season. You know that first warm day where you know it's not quite warm enough, but you still go in because you are just dying too. At first the only thing you can dip in is your big toe. And when you do it sends shivers up and down your spine because the water is so cold. Eventually you work up to having your whole foot in the water. And when you finally work up the courage you work up to your ankles, and give up there. Most likely at this point you feel so frigid that you run back to sand to dry off. Of course, like anytime at the beach you suddenly feel colder than you did when you were in the water. And you wish that you just stayed in the water. Then you vow that you'll never do that again, and you'll just wait until next year. And of course next year comes and you do the same thing all over again. Because you secretly love it. Right now I am secretly wishing either today or yesterday I would have worn sandals so I could have dipped my toes in the water during these first really nice days.
